The year was 2014. Some of us were seasoned explorers, poring over technical specifications, trying to find gear that could match our ambitions. We were tired of marketing fluff and products that failed when they mattered most. We spent more time researching than we did exploring.
Others were just starting out, filled with excitement but paralyzed by choice. The market was a wall of confusing options. They feared spending their hard-earned money on the wrong equipment, worried that a poor choice would turn a dream trip into a disaster. We saw a gap. A huge one. Between the hyper-niche, intimidating pro shops and the generic, low-quality gear at big-box stores, there was no one speaking to both the serious and the curious.
